buying my brother a shifter bezel because I broke his last one and was shocked to see how expensive these are and also how common an issue this is on the forums. photo of shitty plastic part:
those aren’t even screws just shitty plastic studs.
replacement part:
all for a super cheap 50 bucks on amazon....

A little duct tape would’ve fixed that...

and would’ve somehow made a jku interior look worse....I didn’t have any gift ideas for him and I did break it so I think I should get it

Shitty? yes. Expensive? not really, though that is a boat load of cash for a plastic bezel.

my replacement is aluminum with real screws which is what it should have been from the factory....

Nothing a little hot glue wouldn’t fix.

The truth is that the Wrangler is cheap. And I mean that both ways. People think that 23-35k is a lot to spend on a vehicle as basic as a jeep I think its amazing you can get all that hardware as cheap as that...which goes to show where they DIDN’T spend their money. 4Runners are expensive/hold their value for a reason.

Crazy glue?

It’ll be interesting to see how they balance the cost/quality equation on the next generation.
Balancing premium with rugged is an intriguing problem.

The new wrangler is intensely important for FCA and I suspect they will take as few risks as they can, however some thing will have to change to meet changing regulations. I suspect we’ll see dropped weight from aluminum body panels (not all) and increase windshield rake as well as subtle aero mods. I can’t imagine they will use anything but the same 3.6 engine but they may try and sneak in an 8 speed. It will be tough to keep the costs low will all the tech they will need to meet their targets which means that the quality of the parts and the build quality will only get better...wait, not better, the other thing. Or it will just be more expensive will still marginal quality.

the thing is that they already sell all they can make, and I don’t have figures, but from what I see many are very optioned up so one or even two thousand dollars to the cost, might not hurt sales if it makes them more livable.
How do you make removable doors that meet side impact tests, other than obscenely high door sills that make egress a nightmare like they have been for the last 15 or so years...

At least it’s not a color part. I tried to order screw covers for a Chevy Cavalier and needed them in brown. I was told by the dealer that they could not order a specific color, that they would get what ever color they where shipped, and that I had to pay for the part up front. They did say they will put in the notes that the part needs to be brown, but warned me that color specific parts are almost impossible.
That was in the days prior to the internet so I had little other options. I ended up with black covers.

Jeeps are simultaneously the worst and best vehicles on the planet. They are dirt Miatas.

Reports are that the Wrangler will get the 8-speed standard, but it will have to be lengthened for it to fit.

That’s what sh...nevermind. I assume they mean the 2 door because I can’t imagine the 4 door needs to be any longer.

Yeah, the Unlimited is long enough, the 2-door isn’t. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but one thing’s for sure, it won’t be a real Wrangler.

This is assured. Just like all generations before it.

2011+ FTW...I can’t say I’ve had any quality issues yet. Then again, mine only have 400 miles on it :)

i find it amusing not that your wrangler has heated seats but that it has 5 blank buttons for god know what missing options

jeeps hold their value too
![]() 12/18/2015 at 11:48 |

yeah...which makes no sense to me at all, but they are still less expensive than a 4runner (though not by much)

funny how the 2 cars that changed the less in the last 50 years (Jeep and Porsche 911) keep their value, and tend to go up in value with age too. yes condition, condition, condition but still.
I think lower end jeeps sell for more than lower end 4 runners. you can easyly find a crap 4 runner for a couple grand. but try finding a jeep in the same condition as the 4 runner for less.
![]() 12/18/2015 at 11:54 |

depends on the age of the 4runner, I’ve noticed they arc down with the generation 1st gens being valuable and current gens being valuable and they kinds sag in the middle. Same with Jeeps I guess.

Guess cause they are wanted by the off road crowds. price goes up.
